Applications and experience

Vacuum unit exchangers – Visbreaker exchangers

Scope of Work:

Remove residual hydrocarbon prior to mechanical works, bundle pulling and hydro blasting being under taken for inspection.

ProDecon® Method

Two successive fully flooded decontamination washes at target temperature followed by a cold water rinse/flush. ProDecon Mobile Heat Exchanger deployed.

Chemistry used:

LDP-88™ (ProDecon® Decontamination Chemistry).  Cacl2 to fracture the temporary emulsion on route to the ProDecon mobile wastewater treatment tanks.

Safety performance:

Commended. No incidents, no lost time first aid, no reported near misses

Environmental performance:

Excellent.

Following initial treatment with Cacl2 and processing through ProDecon’s Mobile Waste Water Treatment Unit, the effluent was analysed by client, found to be compliant and was released for metered discharge with no adverse environmental impact

Customer verified results:

References may be available on request. The following comments are taken from client witnessed Completion Report.

 Vessel pre-entry checks:

Zero H2S, Zero LEL, Zero CO and no hydrocarbons.

Vessel internals:

It was noted that there was less residual chemical odour and no complaints regarding irritation, from those working close to the exchangers. There were no issues with interference to sampling / monitoring equipment.

The cleanliness of the tube side internals was noted to be very good.

The shell sides are fitted with shrouds, the outer of which were clean. With the shrouds removed, material packed between the tubes was revealed, this material appeared to be hydrocarbon free and seemed to be easily removed when H.P. water jetted.
